The Preview from 4-7pm attracted about 30 people, from painters to chainsaw artists, electronics hobbyists to musicians. We were very busy showing people around and explaining the two membership models. It was great to hear all the excitement and interest in the space and we're sure it won't be long before we're full!
A big attraction was the Penticton Museum and the space they are leasing for their SmithWorks project; an 18-month series of workshops featuring opportunities to learn about traditional artisanal crafts. Their first course, starting November 9th will be restoring a 35 ft traditional war canoe.
The Art Experiment is all about creating things in a collective environment. The brainchild of local artist & teacher, Kindrie Grove, this event happens monthly, alternating between her studio on Main Street and Art House Penticton. We also enjoyed delicious food by resident artist, Derrie Selles who also has a catering business (Mobile Morsels) and delightful jazz music from an eight piece band who call themselves the 'Monday Night Jazz Friends'. If this sounds like an event you wish you'd attended - make sure you're on our mailing list for next time!
What a way to kick off our new building!!
